How To Apply Powder Eye Liner

Hi. I'm Faye from SimplyFaye dot co dot uk. I've been a makeup artist for twenty years, and I'm going to give you some tips on how to apply makeup.

You can use any powder eye shadow as an eyeliner. It's actually a brilliant way of applying eyeliner and getting used to applying eyeliner before you graduate on to a liquid eyeliner. What I'm going to do is I'm going to use a very plump brush, and I'm going to dip this brush into an eye shadow.

I'm using black, but you can use any color. Preferably a color that's got quite a lot of pigment in it or quite a dark color because a lighter color won't show up as well. Now, I'm going to come onto the eye area and I'm just going to press this onto the top of the eyelid.

I'm starting in the outer corner and then I'm gradually bringing it in. We're not going to go right into the corner. We're going to stop about, I would say, probably five millimeters before the corner, and we're just pressing.

Just open your eyes for me. This works brilliant on somebody that's got a more mature eye that might be a little bit wrinkly as it just gives more of a smoky look. And it also gets into the wrinkles, so you don't have a wonky eyeliner.

And again, if you make a mistake with powder eyeliner, you actually really won't notice the mistake because it will just look like a nice smoky eye shadow surrounding your eyes, and you just keep building up the color using pressing motions. Just open up your eye for me. I'm just coming up, and I'm just filling in, just intensifying the color, filling in the gaps.

And open your eye. Sometimes, when you apply eyeliner in this fashion, it can spread underneath the eye, so you just take a cotton bud with a bit of eye makeup remover and just touch up underneath once you've finished. And just look straight at me.
