How To Apply Red Eyeshadow
This makeup tutorial is for the bold. This is how red eye shadow should be applied if you're aiming for a gothic rocker look.
To create quite a gothic metal look with some red eye shadow, it's quite a fun look to go out and see your favourite metal band. So, first is taking a black eyeliner, go all around the eye area. It doesn't have to be precise because we're going to work around that.
Prepare my eyelid with some primer as well. Take the eyeliner quite outwards and put quite a lot of black as well under the eye. It's not a look for the fainthearted.
So, loads of black and you're going inwards as well so you're finishing inside the eyes with a little point here. Use a black eye shadow with a little brush so you're going to use nearly like a lid brush but it's quite soft to blend it up. It doesn't have to be yet very precise because we're going to work over that.
Now, you've created a really nice black hollow under the eyes. Soften that line underneath, keep the shadow on the inner corner and soften and create a nice lid, not a point, but just reach both lines from underneath and on the top on the outer corner. By using a soft brush, you see the effect will be soft and blended and really pretty.
If you think about the Evanescence video, Going Under, she's got beautiful makeup like this made with all these red and black eye shadows. That is really stunning. So, you can go quite outwards, in fact, creating some kind of a mask, really, and you go inwards as well, so in that corner here and you just soften and blend.
And then, underneath, underline with some more red. But this time, take a little angle brush to be a little bit more precise. Take the red, look up, and work from the corner and make a line this time.
You could do this with a red liner, if you have, or just a lip liner actually would work really well as well. So, you've now created that line with some eye shadow. But if you want to make it more slightly intense or to last longer, use a lip pencil, so red lip pencil to make it quite striking.
Go very close to the root of the lashes with gel liner to make it very intense and come in right inside the eye here to create a little bit more definition. You need a lot of mascara for this look, so loads and loads of black mascara and you may have to clean up while you're doing it because your eyeliner could have gone onto the eye shadow. Use a volumizing mascara here and just add loads.
You nearly want your lashes to look like spider legs, really, because the look is so strong. But if you don't have the mascara, it looks bland. Create a nice point as well to create a little bit of definition because the look is quite blended.
So, you have some definition on the inner corner, definition on the outer corner, so there. So, you're now ready to rock. .
