Sunscreen doesn't do you much good unless you apply it correctly. Watch this brief video tutorial, and you'll never get it wrong again.
Hi, there. I'm Abi Cleeve from Ultrasun. I've been in the sun care industry for thirteen years, really helping people to make the right decisions on their sun care choices.
Today, I'm going to try and do the same for you. It's essential that we apply sun protection in the right way. I know I'm passionate about protecting our skin, but it's so important to make sure we get this crucial stage right.
The rule is, if you think you've used enough, you probably haven't, and do it again. You can never have too much sun protection on your skin. A rough idea that helps people is, you should be using around a teaspoon for each arm, and each leg.
So that's four teaspoons in total, and of course it's the same again for the torso and the back, and around half a teaspoon for the face. So, that's quite a lot more than a lot of people tend to use. Make sure you apply your sun protection to clean, dry skin, and what that means is before you've moisturized, before you used body lotions.
It's so important that that protection, whatever brand you choose, gets onto clean, dry skin so it can really work and do its job. It's essential that you apply your sun cream indoors. This is quite new for a lot of people, but there's a reason behind this.
The sun can evaporate the sun protection as you apply it to your skin. So by applying indoors, not only do you prevent that from happening, but actually you can concentrate in the privacy of your own environment to ensure you get a really good covering all over, even in those hard to reach areas. When you're using spray sun protection, which can be ever so convenient, don't be fooled into thinking that merely by spraying, you're protected.
You must then apply that product onto the skin as well. So spray the product generously across the skin, and then rub it right across the whole skin area, to ensure that no little spots have been left uncovered. So the rule is, you can never be too generous, and remember: always apply to clean, dry skin, indoors. .
