How To Battle Enemies In EverQuest

Step 2: Pick Your Battles

Not all of your enemies can be assessed by size. Sometimes, deadly things can come in small packages. You can do that by clicking on the creature and "conning" the creature. There's two ways to do that you can press the "C" key on your keyboard, or you can right click the NPC. Either one is going to give you information about the NPC. There's a couple of important things that you can learn by reading the text that you'll see on your screen. The first is the level of the NPC. That'll be the color of the text and it will also be indicated by the text message that you get. The various "con" colors in EverQuest are from lowest to highest, relative to your level are the grey con, green, light blue, blue, and white (which is the same level that you are), and yellow (which is slightly higher than you are) and red (which is much higher than you are). Anything your level or higher is going to be very challenging to defeat in combat by yourself. If you bring more people with you, you'll have more success when you fight those types of creatures.

Step 3: Get In The Mix

NPCs often move, so you're going to have to chase them. If you're a melee character, you'll have a melee attack button that you'll push, which will enter combat. You also have various abilities that you can create hot-keys for like bash or taunt that do different things to the NPC.

As you go up in level, you'll fight a variety of different NPCs, culminating with dragons, gods, and other impressive creatures. So fight on mighty warriors, because fallen foes yield treasure. And know that if you are defeated, it won't be forever, because in the game of EverQuest, your character will be revived and your journey continued.
