How To Be A Good Babysitter

How to be a good babysitter: Babysitting is a popular first job for many teenagers, but caring for children is not an easy task. So here is VideoJug's guide on how to be a good babysitter.
-
Step 1:
-
Arrive Early
-
Babysitting is like any other job so turning up late will look unprofessional. By arriving in good time, it will give you the chance to speak to the parents about the children and their routine and find out if there are any special instructions you must follow. Make sure you always ask for a list of contact details for the mum and dad.
-
Step 2:
-
Stick with the Routine
-
Parents will usually explain the routine of their children before they leave including their regular dinner and bed times. Don't ignore these rules. Not only will the parents see it as unprofessional, the children will take advantage of your flexibility and try and run circles round you.
-
Step 3:
-
Playing with the kids
-
To be a really good babysitter, the best thing is have loads of fun with the children. You can play games, make things or read stories. Just be full of energy and ideas. Maybe plan some activities beforehand so you have lots of ideas and games to entertain the children.
-
Step 4:
-
Take Control
-
Be careful! Many children love to exploit their babysitter. They see it as an opportunity to maybe do things they generally aren't allowed to do. If this is the case, don't get cross and angry, just be firm with them. There are some great tricks to use to calm the kids down. Maybe read them another story or tell them that even you will get in trouble with the parents if they don't go to bed.
If you are in anyway concerned about the children, just call the parents.
