There are many natural products that can be used for cleaning around the home instead of harsh chemicals. This video provides tips on how to be an environmentally friendly cleaner.
If you're looking to change the products that you use in your home, and be a little bit more eco-friendly and a little bit more green, a great way to do that is to find substitutes for the cleaners that you're already using. A really good substitute for window cleaning is to do a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar in a spray bottle. That will clean the glass and the windows, and get them really squeaky clean.
Another great way to make a bathroom cleaner, if you're using a cream cleaner to clean your bath or your sinks, a great way to do that is to mix bicarbonate of soda with some vinegar, make it into a paste. That makes a really good scrub for porcelain and plastic baths, so that's a really good one. A great oven cleaner - oven cleaners tend to be quite toxic, and you have to have windows open and wear masks, and all sorts of strange stuff.
But a really good way to make a natural oven cleaner is to mix Borax and bicarb with the vinegar, make it into a nice thick paste, pat that on, all in the bottom and the sides of the oven, and leave it overnight. If it's really, really bad, you may have to do that one or two times, but the next morning, you'll be able to scrape off all the carbon deposits (from all your cooking and grease) with a plastic spatula. A much more friendly way of cleaning your oven.
Another great one; if you have brass and copper, and you buy the little pots of brass and copper cleaner, a great way to clean your brass and copper is to use half a fresh lemon, sprinkle that with salt, rub that on your brass, rinse off with water, and then buff up to a lovely shine. There are lots and lots of recipes online; if you go into Google, you can find lots and lots of recipes for making natural home products. So have a little think about what you need it for, what you would normally go to the supermarket to buy, and see if you can find an alternative.
And that's how to be an environmentally friendly cleaner. .
