How To Become A Psychiatrist

This video shows some good reasons to become a psychologist and also give brief explanation on some other professions in the medical field.

Hello! I am Eldad Farhy. I am a counselling and psychotherapeutic psychologist. I run psychologyexpert.

co.uk. And today, I will be talking about psychology.

In order to become a psychiatrist, you have to follow of those simple paths. But before explaining these paths, let me say what a psychiatrist is and isn't. Well first of all, psychiatrist, psychotheropist, and psychologist are very different people.

A psychiatrist is a medical doctor or after his general training as a doctor, took two or three years or perhaps a few more if he became a consultant of training in the treatment of mental disorder. A psychologist has learnt the science of the human mind or the psyche usually at the University and a psychiatrist is someone who has studied a particular way of treating people, a psychotherapy. Often a psychiatrist or psychologist would also be a psychotherapist but not always you can find any of those three and other professions such as counsellors or may be or just a few of these without being necessarily the same .

Earlier psychiatrists or medical doctors who specialize in the treatment of mental conditions in the same way as other doctors like in treating the eye or treating the skeletal system. Since psychiatrists are medical doctors who took specialist in mental health, they also use a slightly different approach to treating mental health status. Psychiatrist is by mainly medical methods that are, they would prescribe medications as the first line of intervention.

Psychologist or psychotherapist would use psychological methods of intervention. Of course, some psychiatrists are psychotherapist themselves or would often seen the usefulness and benefits of using those systems or mend that the individual receive psychotherapy and psychological involvement instead of or in addition to medical treatment. One of the most common jobs in my profession is that if you come to a psychiatrist saying you need help, the psychiatrist would say take this medication and see what happens, if you say the same to the psychologist, it would say, okay, sit down. .
