How To Become A Psychologist

I'm Dr. Eldad Farhy, I'm a counseling and psychotherapeutic psychologist. I was once a psychology expert at college of UK, and today, I will be talking about psychology.

How to become a psychologist depends really on what type of psychologist one wants to become. Very few are just psychologists, they're usually one type or another. Academic psychologist, applied psychologist such as clinical, counseling, educational, and depending on the type of psychologist you wish to become, you will choose a different location and training path.

Academic psychologists would go into research at University. They will publish and hopefully will gain a small sineal position within the organization, eventually training the next generation of psychologists. Clinical psychologists and other applied psychologists would usually join the appropriate training path for their country.

In the UK, they would join the inner chest, which would send them to University to train as clinical psychologists. In the US, they would join a PhD program, once they finish their academic part or perhaps even at the same time, they will be training psychologists within the various organizations that tend to employ them, and on completion of that period of time, they will qualify as clinical or any other type of psychologists. This is pretty similar also with forensic psychologists where the training takes place in forensic, that is institutions such as prisons.

Educational psychologists where most of the work is done in school and other educational establishments, and so on. Once you have finished the academic and the training stages, you would then apply to join the appropriate national institutions, organizations which regulate the profession and then you will be known as a specific type of psychologist. .
