How To Become A Social Worker

When you send you CV, make sure you write a covering letter, explaining why you want to be a social worker and why you think you would be good at your job.

Have a think about the type of social work that you want to do. All local counsels will have different departments looking after different types of vulnerable people, whether this is children or adults. Bear in mind that social work can be quite a stressful job, so do remember, when you are applying, that some days are going to be better than others; you are, after all, dealing with people.

Quite often in a job like this, you need to be able to show some initiative, so when you are applying, make sure you highlight any examples of using your initiative in your application. Have a think about if you are a people person. Social work is, ultimately, about dealing with members of the public every day, so do have a think about if this is something you would enjoy doing.

If there aren't any social work jobs in your local counsel, then have another look at other types of roles that they are offering.
