Hi. My name's Amy, and I'm a wedding and event planner. I have planned events, mainly specializing in weddings.

However, I have planned events from Christmas to corporate, and I'm going to give you some tips that I hope will help you plan events in the future. I'm going to talk to you about how to become an event planner. The first thing you need to think about is what area of events you want to work in: whether you want to work in more corporate side of things, or something a bit more personal, more like part planning.

You may want to look at whether you want to go to University and study a course. When I first started looking into event planning, I decided against University as I couldn't find a course that I found worked for me, personally. But that may differ for you.

A lot of event planning courses at the time that I was looking were a lot more business management side of things, whereas I wanted a more practical approach to the industry. So that is your decision that you need to make. It might be worth looking at starting for a venue to build your way up.

Obviously, a hotel is somewhere that is a lot easier to get into than for a smaller event company, as a lot of these companies are one, two people companies, so they're not as likely to take on new staff, whereas working for a venue, they're on a lot larger scale. Skills that you need in order to be an event planner: You need to be a very organized person. You also need to have very good time management skills, to make sure that you plan your time effectively.

You also need to be very patient. You will be looking after a lot of people over a short period of time, so you need to make sure that you manage your time well between them and you stay patient, as you will get some people who are under a lot of pressure to make sure their event runs well, and they will vent this frustration on you. So you need to just take that with a pinch of salt.

You need to be a very bubbly, outgoing person. You need to be good at talking to people and getting an idea of what people want. You need to be knowledgeable about what you're doing and what you're selling.

So if you're working for a venue, you need to make sure that you know what can work in that venue and that you can adopt their requirements to suit what you can actually provide, and provide well. I hope this has helped you to learn how to become an event planner.
