How To Bleed Your Radiator

How To Bleed Your Radiator

How to bleed your radiator: VideoJug shows you how to bleed your radiator, showing you all you need from the key, to what to do with the water afterwards. Bleed your radiator safely with VideoJug's help.

Step 1:

You will need

  • 1 Tea towel
  • 1 Radiator key

Step 2:

Turn off the heating

Ensure that the central heating is switched off before bleeding as this can introduce more air into the system.

Step 3:

Open valves

Ensure both valves at the bottom of the radiator are open.
Using the radiator key, insert it into the bleed
screw at the top of the radiator.

Step 4:

Catch drips

Have some kitchen towel or cloth to catch any drips. Slowly turn the key anti-clockwise. About half a turn. You should hear hissing. This is the air being forced out by the water.
As soon as the water squirts through the screw retighten and ensure nothing is leaking.
Repeat on all radiators.
Finally, you may need to top up the boiler if necessary.
