How To Block Your Number
Want to make a call but don't want to send your number? Tech expert, David McClelland, shows you how to stop your number from being sent when making a phone call.
In this video, I'm going to show you how to block your number. Now, in the UK, and in many other countries too, whenever you make a phone call, something called your caller id is transmitted along with your call. And what that caller id tells the person who you are calling is what number you are calling from.
This is certainly the case for most mobile phones, but is increasingly the case for landlines too, either in homes or offices and on handsets that let you see numbers on them. Now, sometimes, this can be quite useful, but other times, perhaps you are calling somebody or a business and you don't want to let them to know either who you are or where it is you are calling from. But don't worry.
There is a way to help you block your number. All you'll need for this is your phone. So, here is how to do it.
All you need to do is in front of the number you are going to dial is to put 141, and then the full number, 02071234567. Now, one thing to make sure of is that you include the zero that comes before the area code, so even though I put one four one here, I've then put the full London code of 0207. And really, it is as simple as that.
One word of warning though, whilst this can be a very useful tool to have up your sleeve, it shouldn't be abused. So, that is all there is to it. That is how to block your number.
Happy dialling. Want to make a call but don't want to send your number? Tech expert, David McClelland, shows you how to stop your number from being sent when making a phone call.
