Hi, my name is Ali. I'm a teacher in Hemel, and we're here today at the Hemel Snow Centre to teach you how to do a boardslide on a snowboard. So, the fundamentals to doing the boardslide on a snowboard is you're going to get the idea that obviously, you will be going this way along a box.

So as if like I'm going in this direction, board's completely 90 degrees, and perpendicular to the box, and basically while you're on it, you want to use the balance, the positioning, the timing, so you want to be able to stick your core a little bit so you got that balance, the stability from lowering your chord, so you've got more center of gravity, so it's just real action, ride action on the legs and everything, and just look forward as soon as you start turning your shoulders at all, your board will turn with you if you're on the rail. But to talk about the initiation of the trick, so you're going to be coming in, so I'm goofy, I'm going to be coming in from this direction here and basically, I'll come up to the rail and it combines using the combination what we've talked about already and as you come up to the feet, you want to do an up and put in half a 180 which has already been talked about. So you come in and you turn the wood like that, land sideways, again low, nice and low so you've got the balance from the center of gravity.

And then you can either do this in two ways when you come to the end of the rail. You can either come out switch which is the preferred way as the rotation is continued. So it's like a full 180, you jump into it, land right on the ground, and then you come to the edge and switch the whole thing when it's turned fluidly into 180.

Other people would like to jump into the board slide and then come back out regular because I'm not so comfortable doing that switch. The difference between these two tricks are when you jump into the boardslide and you want to come out switch, you continue the rotation on your shoulders, so your shoulders will keep turning from where you initiated that 90-degree turn in the beginning, and your board will come out switch. If you want to do it regular, you jump into the boardslide, you're going to make sure you hold it and do not turn your shoulders, keep turning the right way, otherwise your board will turn right or to the left, your board will turn left.

When you come to the end of the box, what you want to do is put in another jump and put a 90-degree turn back the same way which will feel a lot more comfortable as that will be the way you're used to riding on a snowboard. And that's how to do a boardslide.
