How To Break Apart A Rubik's Cube

Step 1: Break It

Turn one side 45º. Wedge a screwdriver into an edge piece. Twist the screwdriver until the piece pops off. You may have to work with it a bit.

Caution: The cube may break apart, the pieces flying everywhere. Protect your eyes and anything else precious to you.

Gather the plastic shrapnel and pull off the rest of the pieces.

Step 2: Twist And Cross

Insert an edge piece between two center pieces that match the colors. Work your way around the middle piece, until you make a cross. Continue inserting pieces, making each side a different color.

Step 3: Final Snap

You have the most wiggle room in the edges, so arrange your final two corner pieces until you have a space for an edge piece. Twist it 45º again, then force the edge piece in.
