How To Build A Career

Probably the most important thing to consider when you are looking to design a career is for you to sit down and really honestly answer the question, what is it that you are seeking to make happen in the next phase of your life. Because, believe me, your career journey is really your journey. This is your life.

Your greatest opportunity to build a career is to be doing something that you love. If you love doing it, that love will really shine through. Other people will notice it.

And getting other people to notice how good you are, how passionate you are is probably one of the best ways for you to build your career. I have worked with people every day helping them choose and design their perfect way forward. Three words become incredibly important in the way they design their career forward.

Passion, purpose and peace. So your perfect career is going to be the one you are passionate about. It' also going to be one that you are purposeful with.

It's in alignment with the deepest sense of purpose for who you are being in this world. It's also going to be a route or path to you that it is a peaceful path, where at the end of the day you are coming home with a peace of mind. These are three criteria for a perfect career.





Another important thing to consider is to think about how you add value. Again, I am going to come back to, what is the difference you make. Really know and understand what is it that other people value about who you are, how you show up in the world.

If you are delivering value, there is a good chance that you are going to boss look good. If you are boss looks good, then he is going to like you. It's a great way of developing a career.

A really nice way of thinking about a perfect job is that it's a vehicle that you get in to on a daily basis. It's the vehicle that you are jumping in to and each day it's taking you a little bit further down the journey of your life. Now, what you don't want is a vehicle that is in fact driving in the opposite direction.

So, the perfect job is the vehicle that takes you towards what it is you are looking to achieve in life.
