How To Build Chest Muscles
A professional fitness instructor takes you through a number of exercises to build your chest muscles.
Hi, I'm Joe from Soho Gyms and today we're at the Waterloo site and today I'll be showing you how to build great muscles. Today we'll be looking at how to build chest muscle, for this we're going to be using the chest press. Before we use the chest press we need to make sure that all of the adjustments are correct so we're ready to use the machine.
What we need to do is adjust the seat by using the yellow pin to adjust the height so these bars are at mid line with the chest. Secondly, we need to look at adjusting the weights and we do this by pulling the pin out and selecting the weight with the pin.When we're ready to lift we're going to press down with our foot onto the foot plate and what this will do is bring the handlebars forward so it's easy for us to press the initial rep up.
Now from here what we're going to do is lower the arms back until the elbows come just below the shoulders and we're going to press forwards before the arms lock out. Keeping the head up, chest up and back engaged, we're going to do these repetitions nice and controlled. When looking at building chest muscle you want to choose a weight which is comfortable from about 8-10 repetitions.
Again, if you find that you can do more than 10 repetitions you want to increase your weights and if you find that you can't achieve the 8 repetitions you want to reduce the weight. By doing this exercise again for 8-10 reps for 3 sets you increase your muscle size. When you finish the exercise, leaving the weights down press down the foot plate with your foot, let the leg take the weights and slowly lower back.
