Now, to build muscle is relatively easy, you eat lots of food and lift heavy weights, and to lose fat is quite easy, you do a lot of cardio and you don't eat much. The trick if you want both of them, if you want more muscle and lose fat, you have to be a bit more scientific about it.
First, let's talk about diet. What I recommend is high protein, so enough protein to get the benefits from the weight training you're about to be doing, but not too high carbohydrates, low carbohydrates. Try to have low glycemic index.
That means slow releasing carbohydrates, much better for you, and low fat diet. Now, for training, you want to do resistance training probably quite often, I'd say like four times a week, maybe five times a week. You want to have a nice balance in upper and lower body.
For upper body, the best two exercises you can do are press-ups, or if you got a gym environment, you can do a bench press, and the other best exercise for upper body would be pull-ups. If you're very strong, wide grip pull-ups as opposed to close grip. For lower body, the best two exercises you can do are squats, and the next one would be dead lifts.
So if you do squats, dead lifts, pull-ups and bench press, that's your whole body completely covered, and combine that with a good nutrition strategy of high protein, low glycemic carbohydrates, and low fat. And this is how to simultaneously build muscle and lose fat. .
