Hi I am Joe from Soho Gyms and I am a personal trainer. We have six sites across London, with free weights, resistance machines, cardiovascular equipment, studios and also classes. Today I will be showing you how to build up great muscle.

Today we are looking at how to build pectoral muscles. Pectorals are muscles that run across the upper body. What I am going to do is demonstrate first with the bench press and then explain which techniques you need to look at, then demonstrate one more time.

So what we need to do is to get an overhand grip of the bar about a shoulder width apart and from here we are going to press the bar up over the top of the chest and lower back down. You want to bring the bar about an inch from the chest and then from there you are going to press back up to the top sending your arms out straight. What you want to watch out for is that your shoulders should not roll forwards and in fact stay back and locked into your body.

From here you are going to bend your arms down and slow extend forwards, keeping your arms back. Find a weight with which you can complete this exercise in twelve repetitions in three sets.You are going to find that you can build impressive pectoral chest muscles.
