Today we are looking at how to build strength in the lower back. Now I know alot of people out there have weak lower backs because of the work that they do. Like sitting in an office all day long or sitting in the car all day long which means that you dont have to engage your lower back muscles that much.

So this exercise right here, the lower back extension can be fantastic for that.Now before we start the exercise we need to make adjustments to the seat, we do this by pulling up the handle and adjusting the seat up and down. So that when we move forward onto the machine our hips are sitting just above that padding.

Well we've got the correct position. We are now ready to start the exercise. From here we want to bring the hands up by the side of the head, keeping back nice and straight.

We are then going to move forward through the hips as far down as we can. And extend back up to the top. it is important while doing this exercise that you keep your lower back engaged all the time and you don't roll it to prevent any injuries at all.

You might find that when doing this exercise your range of moving might be less than this or even limited slightly. This could be because of weak lower back muscles or tight muscles. It is important that you go as far as you can but keeping the back straight.

To strengthen these muscles you want to be looking at doing fifteen repetitions for three sets. If you do this you will strengthen your lower back. Relax. .
