How to burlesque dance with a feather boa. There are lots of different types of feather boas. Some are incredibly full.

They're really effective, great if you're just walking on stage, giving you some amazing presence as you move, not so good to wrap these around your face, really pretty from the back, too, can be used under the bottom if you're wiggling to enhance the movement and show off your bottom. But again, I would keep something this thick away from your face. Think about the colors you're wearing, they can make a lot of difference, you don't want to be too busy.

You also don't want the boa to be the same color as your costume, because it will get lost, and they won't be able to see it. Visibility is important. Burlesque is a visual art form.

So, this one isn't quite as thick as that one. I can wear this around my neck, on me, a little bit, I'm having to keep my head up. This is quite thin, it's a different feather, so it's got a lot going on.

I, normally, if I'm going to wear a boa to perform with, put it down the center of my body like so and around, I would call this college stylie and then what I have is a really pretty little look from the front, it also looks pretty from the side. You can still see it from the back and of course from the other side, too. A nice little thing to do is just to wiggle and then have a little look down at your boa.

Always look before you touch your prop so that you take your audience where it is you're going. Caress your boa. You can even offer out to your audience.

Give it a little bit of caressing because caressing is very important in burlesque. I'm going to turn to the side. Whenever you're removing something from your body, always make that part of your body is directed to your audience so they can see what you're doing.

So, I'm going to get the boa, I'm looking, teasing a little bit. Then, out. And then we do what we call a reveal.

POW! To some good music, obviously. Once you've revealed, it doesn't hurt to have a little caress. Burlesque is about being alluring and tantalizing and provocative.

This is quite a pretty way of using a boa to accentuate your cleavage and, of course, your shoulders too. Turning to the side, blow your audience a little kiss or maybe give them a wink. Turn your back, drop the boa under your bottom, holding it in tight.

Swivel around, get those feathers a little bit of fluffing, maybe a bum shimmy if you know how to do one. A little bit of swinging with the boa to accentuate your movement, up over one shoulder, turn and face, drop your feather boa. Go really slowly, really slowly.

Feel it. You think it's really itchy, don't let them see that in your face. Hold it out and discard it like an unwanted lover.
