How To Buy A Nursing Bra
After the baby is born, you'll need a nursing bra, and pregnancy and nursing wardrobe specialist Caroline Luxton takes you through the steps to find one that will enhance that special bonding between you and your newborn.
Hi, my name's Caroline from Pretty Pregnant. We are maternity and nursing wear specialists. So, we're going to be talking about all your pregnancy wardrobe needs.
We tend to recommend you look for your nursing bra at about the thirty-six week stage. This is because your body's getting ready for baby, your ribcage is decreasing as your cup size increases. Now, when you'll be choosing your nursing bra, you need to make sure you have plenty of room in the cup, not only for your increasing bust size, but also for the breast pads you'll be needing afterwards.
You'll also need to ensure - if you'll just turn around for me, Kylie - that in the back here that you have plenty of hooks. When you're fitted, you're generally fitted on one of the last set of hooks. This is so you've got plenty to tighten to as and when you need to.
Whether you'd have a nursing bra with an A frame or a sling cup, you'll find the nursing function is exactly the same. Simply lift to unclip, and lower to feed, and attach as and when you need to. Also, not many people know that if you go for a softer permeable underwire whilst nursing, it'll offer you a little bit more support and it's perfectly safe while nursing.
You can always measure yourself at home; however, we always recommend you come in store for a professional fitting. If that's not convenient for you at all, Pretty Pregnant can always come to you.
