How To Decide Which Ink Is Best To Use: This VideoJug film is designed to give you some pros and cons of using gouache, bottled inks and inksticks in calligraphy and information about its qualities. So if you are a beginning calligrapher or just want to find out more about this ancient art, this video is right for you.
Hi, I'm from Calico studio in London. Why I have chosen this inkstick? The reason is because it's fresh and it's very easy to write. Bottled inks very often will include salt, acid which will damage your pen.
And it's very difficult to say what is inside of bottled ink. Some bottled inks are better when it's upper, but always be aware, if you will use your bottled inks, you may well damage your pen. Inksticks are much easier because when you will make your ink, it's fresh and if you will use good quality Japanese inksticks after when it's dry, after 24 hours, it's water-proof.
If you have chosen to use gouache, I have here very good quality, Winsor&Newton designed gouache. Gouache is one of easiest ways to make your color if you want to do it right. The only problem with gouache is it includes glue, after it's dry, it's non water-proof.
And it's very difficult to make sure you can get good liquid for writing. But you are able to if you will do it properly.
