I'm here today to talk to you about how to buy seeds. Now, obviously, when you come to a garden centre like this, you can see the array of seeds and they've all got the images on the front so you know what it is you are going to be going - If i just take these seeds off here to show you. On the back, you will have a date that tells you when to use the seeds by.

Now, some of these seeds are very, very tiny, so you get more seeds per pack. Other seeds that are larger, you get fewer per pack. Just pop those back on there.

You can get seeds that are already pelleted or coated and these tend to be more expensive but easier to handle, it will tell you on the seed packet what sort of seeds you are buying and sometimes how many seeds there are in a pack. Whilst I think it's nicer to come to a place like this and choose what you are getting, you can also get them mail order from a company like Thompson and Morgan, you can buy them online and also, you can go to horticultural societies and allotment shows. Whenever you are buying seeds, you need to make sure they have been stored properly and when you come to a garden centre to buy your seeds, you know that they are going to be fresh seeds because the turnover is going to be quite quick, so do always check on the back of the packet to see how long the seeds are going to be viable for.

There are so many things that you can grow from seed, I mean, here we've got an array of bedding plants that are annuals - so you would need to grow these, year after year. And that's how to buy seeds. .
