How To Buy Underwear For Your Partner
How to buy underwear for your partner: Buying underwear for your partner can be a minefield. We've teamed up with underwear expert Phoebe Carlyle to show you how to buy underwear for your partner.
-
Step 1:
-
Know her size
-
When you're thinking about buying underwear as a gift for your partner, the first thing you need to know is her size. If you don't know this already, it's time to do a little detective work. Sneak a peek in her underwear drawer and get a good look at the labels, especially the bras. Try not to get caught. She won't be best pleased to find you rifling through her unmentionables. If she does catch you, be honest and tell her what you're really up to. You could earn yourself some major brownie points for being so thoughtful, which is much better than giving her the impression that you're a bit creepy.
-
Step 2:
-
Don't guess
-
If you don't manage to get a decent look at her bra size, don't try to guess. More importantly, don't judge her size by comparing her to a sales assistant. Women generally don't appreciate strange men sizing them up. Think about buying your partner something simpler, like a babydoll or a camisole instead. These come in regular dress sizes or small, medium and large so you can probably get away with taking a guess if you have to.
-
Step 3:
-
Style counts
-
Obviously, size does matter, but style is equally important. Before you buy anything, you should have an idea of what style your partner would like. You may have your eye on the skimpiest little number you can find, but you're not the one who will wearing it. Do your research by observing the kind of underwear and clothing she usually wears. Steer clear of thongs if she's uncomfortable wearing them, and if she has large breasts, don't go for a balconette bra. Avoid giving her a practical bra as she's unlikely to find this romantic. For a safe bet, look for something pretty and feminine in a style that will allow her to feel comfortable as well as sexy.
-
Step 4:
-
Ask for help
-
If it's all too much to take in, don't be afraid to ask for advice from the staff. In the right shop you will find helpful staff who are all too familiar with your situation and happy to assist you. If you've done your homework, you should be able to give them the information they need to help you find the size you are looking for and advise you on a style that your girlfriend will love.
-
Step 5:
-
Enjoy
-
When you've found your partner something you think she'll like, give it to her and see what she thinks. Even if it's not her perfect gift, she will be so delighted that you went to so much trouble that she will no doubt wish to reward you for all your hard work.
