Step 1:
-
Blueberry Bushes
-
I'm here next to my row of blueberry bushes. Now blueberry bushes are some of the easiest fruiting plants to grow. Basically you don't really even need to pay a lot of attention to them. You don't really need to prune them. They really pretty much take care of themselves. I already have little blueberries beginning to grow. Now if you're somebody who is very impatient and doesn't want to wait a couple of years for their grapes to grow or apples to come on their apple trees, blueberries are the plant for you. Pretty much right away they'll start bearing fruit.

Step 2:
-
Weeding
-
What I'm doing right now is, I'm just weeding. That is basically all I really have to do with my blueberries. As I weed, I save my weeds and give them to my rabbits. Now for some people weeding is a chore, for me its not a chore, it actually ends up being a pretty peaceful time for me. A time where I can just be quiet and a time where I can check out my plants and just talk to them. You gotta talk to your plants, have you heard that before? Well it is true and you gotta tell them they're beautiful, you gotta tell them thank you. You gotta really make sure you spend some time with them. You will definitely notice the difference if you talk to your plants.

Step 3:
-
Acidic Soil
-
So blueberries want acidic soil, they grow really really well next to pine trees. So what I've done is, anytime my pine tree sheds its needles, I'll collect a bunch and put it around my blueberry bushes. That basically supplements the soil to make it more acidic.I'm Patti the garden girl from my fruit orchard in Roxbury, Massachusetts, for farmersalmanac.com. Thanks for watching.
