How To Care For Combination Skin

Beauty therapist Sarah Chapman shows you how to care for combination skin, which occurs when your skin has varying levels of oiliness, dryness or sensitivity. Watch this VideoJug film and learn how to care for your combination skin.

Step 1: The signs of combination skin

Combination skin means you have more than 1 skin type on your face. The most common combination is to have an oily T-zone, which is the panel down the centre of the face. This area will be shiny and prone to blackheads and blockages. The cheeks could either be dry or sensitive. Alternatively, the T-zone could be dry with sensitivity in the cheeks. With either combination, treat the predominant skin type.

Step 2: Oily combination skin

If your skin is predominantly oily, treat it as oily skin all over. Cleanse thoroughly, but not with a product that strips the skin of its oil as this will encourage oil production to increase. Moisturise thoroughly as your skin could also be dehydrated.

Step 3: Dry combination skin

If you have predominantly dry skin, use products designed for dry skin all over the face. If your skin is taught with dryness or flakiness, use milk or cream cleansers and oil rich moisturisers.
