How To Care For Hair Extensions

Caring for hair extensions is simple, but vital to making your extensions last. Whether the extensions be pre bonded, micro rings, or fusion bonded hair extensions, it is important to care for your hair well. Top extension salon Glamour Junkies shows us how it's done.

Step 1: General Hair Care

Spend time talking to your stylist about how you should treat your particular system.

If you find an excessive amount of extensions are falling out, give your stylist a call. It may be as simple as changing your shampoo.

Step 2: Shampooing

Human hair extensions can be treated as real hair, albeit a little more gently.

It's best to use a mild shampoo when wearing extensions.

Accompany your shampoo with a light conditioner.

When washing, use cool water to help prevent matting.

Try not to sleep on wet hair. Let it dry completely, and perhaps loosely tie it to prevent tangles.

The more extensions tangle, the more the bonds will loosen when you fix it.

Step 3: Styling

When brushing use a soft bristle brush 2 or 3 times a day.

Do not brush too harshly.

Start at the ends of your hair and gently work your way up.

Styling tools can be used relatively normally on human hair extensions.

To avoid melting glue, never touch a bond with straighteners, and always set hairdryers to medium or cool.

Using synthetic hair? Then avoid any heating tools as they can burn the extension. Even blow drying is risky.

Step 4: Exercise

When exercising, it is recommended to wear the hair in a ponytail. Sweat and dirt tangles hair.

Wash your hair soon after any exercise, brushing before hand to remove tangles.
