Celebrity make-up artist Jo Adams shows VideoJug how to care for your make-up brushes properly. This will help them to last longer and be more effective.

Step 1: Washing

Wash once a week in a bowl of warm soapy water or brush cleaner. This will remove traces of make-up and care for the brush so the bristles don't fall out.

Step 2: Drying

Rinse off excess water and leave the brushes to dry flat. Never leave them to dry upright or near a radiator as this may cause the glue to come away. Rinse and store your powder puffs in the same way.

Step 3: Storage

Keep your brushes separate from your make-up to keep them clean and hygienic.

It's better to leave the tip of brushes hang on the edge of the table instead. This will help the air circulate around the brush, and also to prevent mold buildup in the brush from the moistened tissue paper or towel. Letting the tip of the brush hang on the edge of the table will also prevent your brushes from deforming. It is best to air dry your brushes. Do not use hair drier or direct contact from electic fans because they can either ruin or deform the hair.

We shouldn't rinse the brushes from the soapy water? or even with that cleanser drops added to the water?
