How To Carry A Football

Football techniques are hard to master, especially carrying the football without fumbling. This video will explain the methods you can utilize to never have the football stripped from you again.

In this video, we are going to show you how to carry the football. We have a centre, a quarterback and a running back and first comes the hand off. This is the hand off position.

As you can see, our running back's arm is up nice and high. His outside arm is down nice and low. With a large area for the ball to go in, the quarterback will put the ball in, the running back will clamp down over the football and carry on with his run.

You can see the way our running back holds the football. He holds it tightly in his chest with his hands over each end of the football. That's to protect it against any contact he might come into.

When holding the ball in one hand, we always want our running back to hold the ball tightly with his fingers on one end the ball in the crease of his arm and tightly against his chest. That again is going to protect the ball from coming out in contact. The reason why we need to carry the ball securely is so that we don't get it ripped out and we don't cause a fumble.

Jermaine is holding the ball properly as I've explained, and there should be no way that I can pull this ball out from his grip. And that's how you carry an American football. .
