How To Carve A Chicken

You can beat perfectly roasted chicken, but before you serve you have to learn the art of carving. Here's how. You can beat perfectly roasted chicken, but before you serve you have to learn the art of carving. Here's how.

Step 1: Divide the joints

Place the chicken, breast side up, on a chopping board with its legs towards you and wings furthest away.

Pull a leg away from the breast, and using a very sharp knife cut at the joint to remove the entire leg, place it to one side. Repeat for the other leg and the wings.

Step 2: Carve the breast

Find the bone that runs along the centre of the breast, this is your base for carving dividing the left from the right. Slice off a layer of the breast, cutting away from the central bone. Keep going until you have carved away all of the breast meat. Then repeat on the other side.

Is this for real? I've never seen such a bad demonstration! The chef not only rips apart the breast meat, but she doesn't even show what to do with the drumstick and thigh joint. Move on and find another demo video out there!....

What a mess, title should be changed to "how to hack a chicken" I was hoping for something a little more elegant - I can already do it better than that so there's nothing here to learn but what not to do...

What a mess! Any fool can carve like that! I thought we would be shown how to carve restaurant style with elegant smooth pieces! Useless!
