How To Catch Shiny Pokémon In Diamond

In this video, I'm going to tell you how to get a shiny pokemon. Now, this can actually apply to any of the pokemon games. But what is a shiny pokemon? Well, they're also known as alternate colored pokemon, and that's exactly what they are, just a pokemon with a different kind of color.

On the screen here, I have six pokemon. On the left side, these three pokemon have slight alterations in their color, sometimes just darker or slightly lighter than their natural color. On the right hand side, well, you can definitely tell that they're a different color.

Also, when you enter a battle, either yourself or an opponent pokemon, if they're shiny, they will come up with a little star effect animation as I'm going to show here. It progresses a battle and right now, both opponents are about to come into a shiny pokemon. And as you see, there is a star effect that comes across the person as they enter battle.

So how do you get a shiny pokemon? Well, unfortunately, it's a random chance. In fact, it's a chance of one in over eight thousand encountering a shiny pokemon. Now, pretty much any pokemon can be shiny that you encounter, apart from some legendaries which are always pre-set not to be alternate colored.

So, in summary, a shiny pokemon is basically one that is slightly different colored. Some are very noticeable but some aren't, which is why there is also a star animation effect that occurs when a pokemon enters battle. How you get one? Well, it's very random that you come across one.
