How To Change A Car's Air Filter

We're now going to show you how to replace an air filter in a car and the reason or some of the reasons why we would do so. Right, on this particular vehicle, the air filter is actually located in this box unit here. So to go back to start replacing that, the first thing we need to do is remove this air pipe, the air intake pipe, which we will now do.

Now to remove the air filter element, basically, what I'm doing is removing these clips, dropping the unit down and forward and there is the old air filter element. As you can see, it's quite dirty and dusty as opposed to the new one which is considerably cleaner as you can see. So in reverse, you fit the new element in like so.

There are two rotating lugs on the rear of the air filter, so these ones here, which clip into the back of the box unit which is very difficult to see. So, make sure they're located. The air filter then pushes back up into place, clip back into place like so.

Then, we refit the air pipe which quite simply snaps into place there and has one clip that holds it into the front of the car. This is basically where the air is drawn in from the outside of the vehicle, in through this pipe, into the air filter chamber, through the air filter, into the combustion part of the engine. Hence, why the filter, this one, is so dirty because that's road grind, dust and other exhaust fumes on the vehicles that cause that.

By replacing this, you can find your fuelling will become greater, the running ability of your engine will become better, so it's recommended you replace it at a regular interval. It's quite an easy job to do on most vehicles nowadays and that can make a lot of difference to the end result. That's how to replace an air filter. .
