How To Change Your Zune Software's Ripping Options
If you're just ripping CDs randomly, you may be surprised to know that Zune software lets you customize how you store music on your hard drive. We'll show you how to get your tunes on there - your way. This short tutorial will explain how to change your Zune software's ripping options.
Step 1: Get Options
Choose the "options" tab from the top of your Zune interface. Select "Rip" from the drop down menu.
Step 2: Make Choices
You have two major choices to make. First, you need to choose which format you want to "rip" into, or use to store your music files. WMA tends to be smaller than MP3 and has comparable quality. However, MP3 is more universal than WMA and works in many different players. Second, you will have to choose a bit rate. The difference in bit rates is simple. The larger the bit rate…the better the quality. However, the larger the bit rate…the more space it takes up on your hard drive. Now that you know the options in play, you can make some informed decisions when ripping in your CD's.
