Hi. My name is Carla Leenders. I'm a personal stylist at The Glass Slipper and I'm going to show you how to style your wardrobe.

Hi, I'm going to tell you how to choose a little black dress. A little black dress is the cornerstone of every girl's wardrobe. It can carry you through functions and if you buy the right one, it can last you for years.

So, which ones to buy for your body shape? If you're quite petite with a small bust, not overly tall and very slim, then a dress like this will work really well on your body shape. It's slim cut and it contours the body but because it has knits at the waist, it will help to define you and give you a little bit curves. The high neckline is really good if you've got a smaller bust as it will help to make your bust a slightly bigger and the knee length will work well with your height as it won't stop you.

Shinning materials are always really good if you're very slim as well as they'll help to give you a little bit extra curve but they should be avoided if you're a little bit bigger. If you're slightly bustier or curvier or if you're pear-shaped, then something like this with an empire line that flares out in the skirt will work really well for you. This little bit of ruching here over the bust is a great way to define your bust lifted and the sweetheart neckline is a really good way to open you up and to stop you from looking blocked at the top.

Three quarter length sleeves are a really good way to help balance out your arms and the soft pleating on the skirt and the way it flares out will skim over your hips, thighs and bottom and turn everything down a little bit. So, that's a really great dress to wear if you're slightly pear and slightly more curvaceous. Black dresses work for most body shapes but they should be avoided if you've got an overly large tummy or if you're very pear-shaped.

If you do want to wear a black dress if you're one of those shapes, then go something that ties at the side, higher up on the waist so that it can flare out over your hips and bottom. If you're big again, don't go anything with a straight skirt. Make sure it has a little bit of a flare but if you're tall and slim, you can go for something that flares out a little bit at the bottom.

The classic little black dress is worn by Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany's, and if you want to wear that sort of shift dress, then make sure that your wear good high shoes with it as it will help to elongate your legs and make you look slimmer all over. Also if you're a bigger busted, don't go for anything too high neck as it can make you look bigger, to go for something with a scoop or v-neck. And that is how you choose a little black dress. .
