Hi. I am Veiko from the Calligraphy studio in London. How to choose a calligraphy pen? The best way is to go to an art shop and find out what pens are available.

There are different manufacturers of calligraphy nibs. I have here four different brands. One is Leonardo, one is Mitchell, one is Speedball, and one maker is unknown. Different nibs make different marks but they are all suitable for calligraphy. Mitchell Roundhand nibs are the most suitable for beginners.
When you open the package, you will find ten different size nibs, plus two reservoirs, and the pen holder. You can buy pen holders separately and there is a wide range available in different thicknesses and materials. Try them in your hand see which feels best.
Different pens make different marks. With Mitchell, you can do letter forms that look like this. If you choose Speedball pens, which are rounded, you are able to do letter forms that are round.
With a more fancy pen in this case you will need a different pen and different pen holder. You will attach the point to the pen and you can do a letter form like which is a different one. You can choose a wider pen called an automatic pen.
Automatic pens come in different ranges and makes, just like with Mitchell pens.
