How To Choose A Perm
This VideoJug film explains the different choices you have when getting a perm, such as the size of the curl you want and whether you want your roots or the ends of your hair to be curlier.
Hello. My name's Andrew Jose of Andrew Jose Salon in Charlotte Street, London. Today we're talking about curls and specifically how to choose a perm.
Now perms are becoming increasingly popular and so just a couple of really good guides that are terrific. The first thing is find pictures of things that you like. Don't be shy.
Cut out of magazines the type of look and the type of length that you want to see and in particular the type of curl you want to see. But do remember that the day you have your perm done, it will drop two weeks later. So you have to plan for this being tighter and then becoming looser.
The next thing that the hairdresser will take you through is to show you an array of different rollers. So, here we have just a selection of the different ways that you can perm your hair. Now depending on which size of roller, that will dictate the size of the curl.
Sometimes they will roll from the ends of the hair into the root and other times they will perm from the root out to the ends. This is if you want to have a curly root and a looser end, and vice-versa. You understand.
So, simple things that you'll see are a tailcoat, different rollers, different clips, and of course finally the solution. These are the things that will dictate the curl that you get.
