How To Choose A Plus Size Dress
Here are some style tips on choosing plus size dresses and how to wear them for slimming effects but still showing off your assets.
The really important thing with plus size dressing is that you look at your figure and you show off your best bits and you disguise the worst bits, which is the way we all dress everyday. So, exaggerate the key elements to your body. Draw attention to your waist by creating that hourglass shape on your body.
Now, a really good way of doing that is with classic shaped dress, nice and fitted, a capped sleeve just to disguise the top of our arms a little bit, and pleating on the bust so it allows for bigger bust. You can just use a belted dress to help disguise your tummy and draw all the line in. A tulip shape on the skirt disguises our hips a little bit.
It flatters our bust and it just draws out the attention into the waist which is really our centerpoint. When you're wearing these fantastic shaped dresses, make sure they're not too tight because they're going to give you lumps and bumps where you don't want them. Another great tip is also to try wearing some really formed underwear for a really nice smooth look underneath the dress.
Another really great look is a little dress that's got a slight detailing underneath the bust which creates an empire line which means it comes in underneath your bust and then skims over your waist in your hips. This is really flattering if you're really conscious of your tummy. Choose a nice black legging or black tights, a cami underneath, jewellery and make it really what it can be.
Another way of making the dress work for you is to elongate you body. So, adding a necklace that is going down the body is a really good way of slimming your body down but again drawing the focus to your smallest part. Try wearing a boot rather than a shoe to make it more daytime, and if you're taking it into the evening, maybe even add a skinny belt underneath the bust line just to draw in that really kind of tiny waist you've got above there, and then go for something a little bit more glam on the shoe.
Another really great way of dressing for plus size is just a classic maxi. It's a t-shirt maxi so it's really simple to wear. The key tip is to create a column down the front of your body.
It's the easiest way of slimming your body but also making you look taller, and basically just looking more fantastic. If you're carrying a bit more weight on your hips and you're slightly conscious of it, go for something that actually has volume on the hips. It sounds like a complete reverse but what it can do is it can really draw attention away and disguise your hips, so it skims over it and it's creating volume and no one is really sure whether the volume is from the dress or from your hips.
When you're dressing plus size, don't be afraid of going for something fitted. You just need to accentuate your body in the right places. A nice open neckline really flatters if you've got a bigger bust.
A tulip shape on the skirt can flatter a bigger hip. Sleeves cover that top of our arms where we are much more conscious about. So, the key things when you're thinking about buying your plus size dress is what are my best bits, what do I need to show off, create that column down the front of your body and create balance.
Enjoy wearing your plus size dresses, ladies, and make sure you show off your curves, don't hide them.
