How To Choose A Sewing Pattern
The video shows how to select sewing patterns according to various body shapes and sizes. All that is needed and tips to the patterns that best suit you are provided.
Today, I will show you how to choose a pattern. There are several pattern companies on the market and I have chosen today from McCall's. When you know, for instance, I have chosen this particular pattern, this is M5052, is a regular pattern.
You can go online and see directly on McCall's site if this design fits you or suits you and how to read them now, it's very important that you see, in this case, there are 6 different designs inside. We have now more sized patterns, why this is very convenient in case you are switching between sizes back and forward. In this case, we have here size 14, 16, 18 and 20.
Please be aware this is not the regular sizes you will normally buy on the high street. These sizes are mostly bigger. So, the best part is you measure yourself through or somebody measures you and then you check the sizes on the back.
They have given you body measurement charts and you check out, this is mostly in inches but below, mostly in centimeters. Now, you check out the bust, the waist, the hip and in this case, the back waist length. You check out in which chart you set into it and that gives you the size.
You may have noticed that every time I write section and the shaded one, in principle, this is the same, because this is American pattern, they are coming in inches, everything which is shaded is in centimeters. Make sure that you buy the right pattern for this and when you open this envelope, you have 2 different papers inside. The tissue paper is the pattern I have already cut out for you and the other one is the description what really gives you the best step by step all the information you need to know.

When you open that below, very important, all the pieces, how they look like and you choose accordingly to the design you have chosen the pieces you need to cut out.
