This video provides you with very useful tips and tricks that will help you become more informed on the subject of Addiction Therapy, and choosing the best type of addiction therapist for you.
My name is Michelle Bassam. I'm a counselling psychologist and also a clinical manager for Harley Therapy. Today, I'm here to talk to you about different aspects of therapy and how therapy can help you as individuals or as couples.
This is a short guide to help to find an addiction therapist. Firstly, it's deciding if you actually want to go into therapy on a one-to-one basis or would a group be better for you. If it's alcohol or drugs, there are many many good groups that have very good reputations that you would be able to join, and you would find, hopefully, very successful for you.
But if you were looking for an individual, then make sure they are qualified to deal with addictions. Sometimes, addiction can also go alongside OCD, and so maybe you need to address that as well. Cognitive Behaviour can work very well with addiction clients.
So maybe in your research now to find the right therapist for you, you should be looking at Cognitive Behaviour. When you are looking for a therapist, make sure that she or he is able to engage and you feel that they are giving you the support and help that you need through this very difficult trying time. You may find it very useful to speak to your doctor as well, and see what he actually recommends for you as he knows you personally.
I hope this would be some help, thank you. .
