Finding an exact match for your existing car colour can be almost impossible without knowing the exact coded shade. This short instructional video will give you some handy insider information, so that you can find the exact paint you need.
Right, choosing auto paint colours - any vehicle is slightly different, but in general, most vehicles do have a code on them. It's just a case of finding them, and that is where the problem begins. You can sometimes get it from your service history book, sometimes you might have to ring your main dealer, but in general, they are on the car.
It's just a case of sussing out whereabouts they are. This is a BMW. Normally, they're on the suspension turrets or by the side of them, and normally it'd say the colour and the code.
Normally, it's three numbers, but sometimes, it can be three or four letters as well. It might be a mixture of both. If you want to look down there, this one is on the front end of the vehicle, it's got all the information of the vehicle, at the bottom is the name which is silver grey on this here.
But sometimes, they're in the door shuts; sometimes, they're underneath the boot which they are on the Volkswagens and the Audis. It's just a case of looking round and having a good look. This is a Peugeot 206.

This one, the code is B22. Service history books like these are where the information should be regarding your colour code. Sometimes they are, sometimes they aren't.
But you've got a few other options, look around your vehicle. Volkswagens and Audis will be in the boot. Other than that, most of them seem to be in the driver's door shut if not underneath the bonnet.
But ring your main dealer up, give them your registration number, and they should give you the information that you need. And normally, it's free of charge. With that information there, that is how you should find your auto paint colours.
