Seasoned bowler Sam Huckle helps you though one of the more unique aspects of bowling, choosing your bowling shoes. He explains why the slick surface of the shoes keeps you upright, when a pair of trainers would have you flat on your face. When it comes to bowling shoes, it's just like Sam says, "They may look funny, but everybody's wearing them."
Hi, my name is Sam. I've been a bowler for twenty years and today, we're here at Rowan's Finsbury Park and today, I'm showing you how to bowl. How to choose your bowling shoes? Every bowling center you go to at some point, you will have to change your shoes over at the front desk for bowling shoes.
This is due to a health and safety reason. If you'll look at the bottom of that shoe, you can see that we have a slide panel. This is so when you throw a ball, the weight of the ball will take it to slide.
If you throw a ball with a trainer, it'll probably grip, most likely you'll fall over. So for health and safety with bowling shoes, you'll slide. You'll probably find that different centers have different types of shoes ranging from very old ones, to newer ones, and different styles with laces or Velcro.
You'll see different sizes ranging from very tiny to very big. It may look funny, but everybody's wearing them. .
