Maternity wear does not have to be worth a fortune. Here's a fashion advice on the key pieces you should go for in order to stay stylish with that baby bump.
Hi. I'm Clare Watson, owner of personal styling business, Miss-dress. Today, I'm going to be showing you plenty of tips and tricks on style and lots of fashion advice that you can use for both work and play.
For women who are pregnant in the grand scheme of wardrobe planning, nobody really wants to spend a fortune on maternity clothes because let's face it, you only wear them for a short space of time. I'm going to show you the top 5 key items to really utilize a budget and to make the most of British high street. We'll start with the first key item that you need, a pair of jeggings or leggings.
The British high street is fantastic at offering an array of maternity clothes now. We've got Top Shop, Dorothy Perkins, New Look, that all offer young women fashionable clothes at a reasonable price. Long gone are the days of really expensive maternity wear and really frumpy maternity wear, too.
So, we have our jeggings. We also need, in the wardrobe, a great dress. Now, make sure that your dress sits above the bump.
All good maternity dresses do that and the other key detail to look for is a batwing sleeve that just really helps to balance out your bum and particularly as you grow over the latter months of your pregnancy. It just gives more proportion to your figure and stops you looking a little bit out of proportion. Next item to have is a long cardigan.
Now, in actual fact, some maternity wear doesn't have to be actual maternity. This cardigan from Top Shop with its draped shape is great because it's going to sit over a bump quite nicely and of course, if you're worried about sizing, just go up one or two sizes only than your natural dress size. Don't go any bigger if you're just buying ordinary clothes because things will start to look very big around the upper half of your body.
So, good cardigan is a really key item. The two fourth items is to have a good two tops. Again, the beauty of the high street is the fact that they don't cost a lot of money but it's a bit more interesting than just having a whole keep of t-shirts or jersey items.
These will actually have more longevity in your wardrobe and stop you from getting bored of them very quickly throughout the months of your pregnancy. So, go for something that you can dress up or dress down so both of these are going to work really well with the jeggings but also, you could team them with your pair of maternity jeans, too. Then the last item that you need is a good little blazer.
Now, again, rather like the cardigan, you don't actually have to buy a maternity blazer because, naturally, this will sit around your bump. So, go for, again, one or two sizes bigger than your normal size so that it will work with your bump and with your pieces that you're going to wear underneath it. And then, that forms the foundation of your wardrobe for maternity wear and you can then start to mix and match items together.
So, we can do a colorful top with blazer and then jeggings or another alternative is to get your other colorful top and to layer it over cardigan and then, again, team with your jeggings. So you see, you don't have to spend a fortune on maternity wear. It's just about having both key chosen items that will look great and last you through the term of your pregnancy. .
