So now, I'm going to talk to you about dressy tops. A dressy top is quite a subjective thing because it depends on your fashion personality. What I deem as a dressy top for me is quite possibly different from what you would choose as a dressy top.

If you like dramatic styles, then you're going to go for a dressier dramatic top. Whereas if your fashion personality if more subtle, then you're more likely to choose something that's less bold and outrageous. So taking all of that into account and thinking about your body shape, I'm going to give you some useful tips for choosing a dressy top.

So thinking about your fashion personality and choosing a dressy top, that's right for you, a good rule of thumb is to think about a top that you would think inappropriate for wearing to work or wearing to a casual social or possibly even to a day time event. For you, if that feels uncomfortable, if you're going to feel self-conscious in that, then that really is a dressy top for you. So that's a good rule of thumb to think about.

Often anything that has sequins to it, that's in shiny fabric or maybe velvet, those luxury detailing, that will give it dressy edge. So if your fashion personality is more subtle and you don't want to wear something too bold and outrageous, then think about the fabric and the detailing involved in that top. So for example here, we have a lot of sequins going on here and also the sheer top half on the sleeves.

So, that clearly has a night feel to it and you wouldn't wear it to work. But at the same time, it is quite a simple top so I would say this would work for someone whose style is quite simple but at the same time a bit glamorous and a bit dressy. So if your personality is more bold and outrageous, then going for a top like this, in eye-popping bright colors and with dramatic detailing with the ruffles and the one shoulder, that's going to be more in keeping with your personality and it's going to grab the attention just as you like it.
