How To Choose Feng Shui Plants
Want to learn how Feng Shui plants work? This will tell you which plants suit your environment and give you a dynamic or relaxing atmosphere.
Hello. My name is Sarah McAllister. I am the founding director of Feng Shui Agency.
I am delighted to give you some general tips, but please note they are not substitute of professional feng shui consultant's advice. So, some tips on how to select some good feng shui plants. Generally speaking, you want to opt for plants that have nice rounded shaped leaves, okay, as opposed to the plants that are on the spiky side, okay.
The reason for this is that particularly yuccas which have broader leaves than this, they have a very kind of aggressive or stimulating or clashing energies we call it, which is not conducive to harmony. Whereas these round shaped are so much more conducive to peacefulness and gentle flow which is what you are trying to achieve in feng shui, generally speaking. The role of plants is also to clean the air and provide oxygen, okay, so the good plants to cleanse the air are particularly Peace lilies, and Devils Ivy, and also Parlor Palms are really really good at cleaning the air.
Now if you are trying to decorate an office with plants, what I suggest is that you use the upwards growing plants and if you need some activity, then you can have some of these spiky plants particularly if you have a basement office which is very yin and quiet. You actually need the clashing energy of those plants so you can't always say that spiky plants are bad, it always depends on the context. One thing I would say about creating relaxing environments is that you can use trailing plants such as ferns, and trailers which can create a more downward movement and it's a bit more relaxing, okay.
So, the upwards growing plants are good for dynamism and the downward plants are good for relaxation. Whichever plants you choose, don't have any in your bedrooms because they give off CO2 at night. .
