How To Choose Figure Skating Equipment
Do you want to get into figure skating but don't know what equipment to buy? In this Videojug guide Doreen Hoppe, ice skating coach and ISU technical specialist, shares some great tips.
Top Tips
- When choosing boots and blades you should take your ability into account; if you are starting out, the cheaper boots of about £80 will be fine.
- If you are an intermediate skater attempting jumps, you should invest in better equipment; the boots will be about £150-200 and the blades will be about £100.
- There are different blades for ice dancers and single skaters, so make sure you have the right type.
- Dry your blades when you come off the ice and protect them with soakers to prevent them rusting.
