Funeral programs may just be as simple that you can do it yourself or it may be elaborately done by a professional. This video talks about both choices to ensure that the funeral service will run smoothly with the program made.
How to choose funeral programmes. Funeral programmes can be as elaborate or simple as you want them to be. You might want a photo at the front.
This could be a photo of the person in happier times or possibly you might feel it's more appropriate to have a photo of somebody at the end of their life. It's entirely up to you or you could have both. There programs can be done by yourself easily on simple software that's available on every computer nowadays or you could go to a professional company that will be able to turn them around in 2 or 3 days.
Most of these companies are used to the timeframe involved in making a funeral program. Obviously, you'll get a better product at the end of the day but it won't be as personal. You would have done it yourself.
So maybe you'd like to have a go, doing it yourself at the beginning. You want to decide what readings you want, what hymns you want, who is taking the service and have all the information within the booklet. You'd want to have when the funeral is, what time it is and also any other relevant information that you feel that your congregation might want.
Most people will take the program away as a memento after the funeral. Once you've made your funeral program, you've chosen the paper you want, you have your printer and you have all your information ready and you printed it off, try and get it to the funeral directors a day or so, before the funeral. Don't take it yourself on the day.
That's something else you need to remember. The funeral director will then care for them until the day of the funeral and when you come to the service, will place them on the seats for people to take and/or hand them out at the service. Let your funeral director do this.
Don't try and do it yourself. So, that's how to choose your funeral program. .
