Okay, how to choose martial arts equipment. Now, all different martial arts require different equipment. So, I'm going to start with kind of more general pieces that you're going to need.

Okay, first and foremost, most martial arts are going to require a gum shield. Now, a gum shield looks something like this which I'm sure you know. They're available in high street sports shops which you can actually mold yourself.

If you really want a high quality gum shield, your dentist can provide that for you also. Really important, protect your teeth, protect your smile and you don't want anything falling out do you? Another really, really important piece of equipment is the cup or the box. This particular variation here will slip inside of your compression shorts, will keep everything nice and tight so you don't get any injuries there which could be very painful.

You can also get the ones which you step into and slide up and on top of your training uniform also. Always different variations, but really important for you to get one of those, okay. Now, martial arts, such as, kickboxing, muay thai, MMA, which is mixed martial arts which is growing very rapidly, will require one of these, okay, or a couple of these shin pads.

Alright, two reasons. You need these to protect yourself and also to protect your opponent. You're kicking somebody with a shin.

It can be quite painful for them if it catches in the ribs or the leg, but it can also prevent you from getting to much pain, damage on yourself, too. Now, this particular one actually covers the front of the foot as well, okay. Nice and comfortable, it just slips onto the leg.

It can go underneath your training kit or on top of your training kit, alright. Different variations of that is just simply the shin without the foot attachment on there, okay. Now, you'd use these if you were doing sports maybe like taekwondo, karate, or again kickboxing because you would actually have foot pads also.

So, shin and foot pad. The foot pad there slides onto the foot, just got straps on and allows to be able to execute kicks safely to your opponent, so when contact is made, it's the pad, not the bone that hits them, okay. Now, gloves vary from martial art to martial art.

Martial arts like karate, taekwondo, jujitsu, will require gloves that you can actually hold and grapple with. There are 4oz. gloves, okay.

They weigh 4oz. These particular gloves are used in MMA also. The thumb goes through, wrist strap around there and the fingers actually come out of the glove which allows you to grapple and hold, okay.

You can also get 6oz. gloves as well. There's a little bit of extra padding there which is good for training with because, again, it protects your opponent and protects your knuckles.

If you're new to it, you might want to get 6oz. first. Fingers go through, thumbs in the loop there, and a nice strong wrist support, okay.

Now, when you're new to training with gloves, you might want to get yourself a pair of wraps. These wraps here, you've got to learn how to do them first, okay, which you can find out. Take it around the fingers, in between the fingers, around the thumb, paying extra attention to the wrists, okay.

The wrists are going to be, if you're training from the start, they're going to need a little bit of protection there because you're new to it. The bones aren't going to be as conditioned there, okay. So, wraps will be for you.

It's all relatively straightforward but safety is paramount. So, make sure you get your safety equipment before you start any martial arts training, to protect yourself and to protect others too, okay. Exercise and train in a safe and effective environment always.

Okay, take care and if you need anything else, check the website. See you later. .
