When that baby bump starts showing, pregnancy and nursing wardrobe specialist Caroline Luxton tells you why it is important to choose maternity clothes over regular clothes, discussing styles, fabrics and support.
Hi, my name's Caroline from Pretty Pregnant. We are maternity and nursing wear specialists. So, we're going to be talking about all your pregnancy wardrobe needs.
So, why choose maternity wear? Well, you could always wear your normal clothes and go up a size larger, but why compromise style over comfort? You can get tailored styles and be fitted to ensure your hemlines won't rise at all, and your tops certainly won't curl, and your trousers won't dig in at all. If you go to maternity styles that are tailored, they'll be fitted to be sure your hemlines won't rise, your tops won't curl, and your trousers won't dig in. If you choose good key quality maternity wear, it will last you through your pregnancy and beyond.
Make sure you choose a really well supported maternity bra. The correct fit and fantastic fabric will improve your posture, your comfort, and your confidence. Your comfort is always key so go for the softest fabrics and stunt tailoring.
This will ensure you look and feel great. Look for jersey and viscose to ensure you have the best fit and remember, you can always wear it for nursing, too. Here are some examples of the extent of styles available to you.
Don't be afraid of fitted styles when you're pregnant. Like this one over here, a viscose or a jersey tends to be more flattering over the bump and tends to give a much smoother silhouette. Remember as well you can always wear them with over-the-bump trousers which give you a nice slim line silhouette over the sides, meaning you don't get any marks when you wear your tops above.
