Hello. My name is Anita Feron-Clark http://feronclarkstyle.com/. I work freelance as an image consultant, in association with Colour Me Beautiful http://www.colourmebeautiful.co.uk/ and today we are going to talk about various trousers.
When we talk about work trousers, usually it is part of a suit. So it has a matching jacket and the trouser and it is always really important to buy two pairs of trousers to one jacket because a trouser takes a lot of wear and tear. A work trouser tends to be 100% wool of a wool blend so it has a high wool content.
The reason being is wool is very durable and if it's mixed as a blend with a synthetic material like polyester or viscose, it gives it even more strength and durability. So work trouser tends to be wool based. When we look at styling for a work trouser, it tends to be either flat front, single pleat, or double pleat.
It's not denim or a pair of casual trousers so it is not a five pocket western style. So it's very formal. It tends to have belt loops and if a formal trouser has a belt loop, one ought to wear a belt with it because it just makes the look a bit more polished.
Also, a formal trouser could have a turn up as well which is again another design to a trouser that some people may like. So when you think about a work trouser, think about the fabric. So it will be wool based mainly.
Think about buying two pairs of work trousers to every one jacket you buy. Think about the styling as well. It could be flat front, single pleat or twin pleat and about 63% of work trousers tend to be single pleat.
Also with regard to design, a work trouser, could be a pinstripe, it could be a herringbone. It could be twill. It could be a poppy, too.
So, it usually has some sort of structure to it and work trousers tend to be in dark colors like navy, chocolate, black and charcoal. Styling for work trousers comes very much down to personal preference. The most popular style that men like to wear to work is the flat front trouser because it gives you nice clean line and it's quite modern.
There is also the single pleat and double pleat which some people shy away from and it is seen as being more of a traditional trial. Predominately in work trousers, they tend to be flat front across lots of different fabric types and lots of different designs. So if you're a rectangle body shape, in terms of styling, the best styles for you tend to be flat front or a single pleat.
If you're an inverted triangle, you can get away with a single pleat, a double pleat or a flat front trouser. If you're more of a rounded body shape, I would avoid flat front completely and have a look at trousers with styling that have either one pleat or two pleats and also a looser fit to them. .
