How To Choose Silk Tops

Hi, I'm Zoe Lem, Stylist and owner of Sugarland and today I am going to give you some insider's tips on how to do fashion. I am now going to show you how to choose a silk top. So, silk is a difficult fabric to wear.

You need to be careful you get the right shape - it's going to show everything. The right underwear is really really important - the right bra. You can't do a lace bra with silk fabric.

So keep it a padded or smooth, t-shirt bra, and then you will keep the smooth lines. You still need to pick a shape that's really fitted and works for your shape. So, keep it a little bit nipped in.

If you go too loose, then it's going to drown you, though it is a light fabric, which is going to hang differently than a cotton or wool, you still need to keep the fit right. You don't have to keep it really nipped in because you can use a belt, but you still need to keep it so that it gives you that gentle perfect line. The sleeves are really important.

Again, if the arms are the area that you worry about, that is a great length of sleeve because it gives me three quarters. So it is going to cut through the middle of the arm and cover the area that you want to, but it's not going to be too heavy. If you go too strappy, thin straps on a silk top can be unflattering depending on what you wear over top.

The pocket here is a flat pocket. You don't want to go for too much heaviness and too much layering of the fabric over the bust, especially if you have got a big bust. So, be careful of the detail here.

Be careful of the neckline. If you're bigger busted don't go too high a neckline. You don't want to go for too dark a color, so if you if you keep it light, the silk sheen is going to be flattering and it is going to reflect into the face, brighten the eyes, which is really great.

But you don't want to go too dark in the fabric, otherwise it is going to be draining, especially in the black. So this beautiful mauve works really well and it is going to be a great color if you have got blue or green eyes. And that is how to choose the perfect silk top. .
